Rebel Buda’s mission is to inspire sustainable lifestyle choices, to create and promote products and solutions that are environmentally and socially better for the planet and future generations.
Rebel Buda represents quiet change, big impact.
Inspired by Desmond Tutu’s words: “Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”, we decided to create a company that represents those little bits of change. We are a young family of introverts that believe that change does not need to only come from loud voices protesting in the streets. Change can also come from the little things we do (and consume) in our day-to-day lives.
We created Rebel Buda with the Buddha’s teachings in mind. That change is always possible, that we should rebel against ignorance to gain wisdom and understanding … that we should have compassion for all living things. Our last name is Buda, so you get the play with the word Buddha.
Our logo was created with our two sons during a family dinner in our kitchen and our (then 10 year old) son drew its first version. A meditating stick figure with hands in a fighting stance… representing a peaceful person who will not shy away from the fights worth fighting for…
We hope to inspire you to join us in this quest for a more sustainable lifestyle.
We are proud to produce our tees and tanks with Metawear Organic.
The organic cotton used on our shirts comes from an organic farm cooperative called the Texas Organic Marketing Co-op. It comprises over 40 certified organic farmers. In doing so, we keep jobs in the US and revitalize air, soil, water, and human health. Our goal, aligned with Metawear’s, is to expand organic cotton agriculture in America. This protects human and environmental health as well as jobs here at home. To learn more about our supplier, fabrics, and certifications, click here.
Giving back is part of our DNA. We chose to become members of 1% for the Planet. That means we are committed to donating at least 1% of our sales (not profits) to organizations fighting climate change. Being a member of 1% also means that we are agreeing to be audited to ensure we are walking the talk! 1% for the planet was founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, the founder of Blue Ribbon Flies. To date, it has donated more than $150 million back to environmental nonprofits.
All our packaging from EcoEnclose is plastic free and made of 100% recycled content. It is fully recyclable and naturally biodegradable. Plus it is made in the USA!
We are also members of the Sustainable Fashion Alliance, an organization supporting small to mid-size fashion businesses be more impactful in their vision of sustainable fashion.
